Programs & Services

Education & Training

The IIC offers an array of education and training opportunities on both an ongoing and an on-demand basis. The central purpose of these programs is to foster personal growth while also promoting the IIC's overall goal of community building.

The IIC presents these programs independently and in collaboration with other community organizations and advocacy groups. We have the capacity to provide a wide range of services and continually seek out new ways to broaden the scope of our education and training facilities.

The IIC's education and training opportunities include:

  • ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes
  • New! Citzenship Classes
  • Cultural awareness and diversity training
  • Computer classes and use of the IIC's Cybercafé
  • Spanish classes
  • Training and special events for IIC International Program participants to learn of the diversity of US society, broaden their world views and avail of the unique cultural resources this country has to offer
  • Education that connects newcomers with diverse communities in the hopes of establishing and increasing cross-cultural awareness, and building allies across various racial and ethnic groups
  • Grassroots organizing training that enables immigrant communities to come together to advocate for social justice, develop their political consciousness and strategize about issues
  • Leadership development training to empower newcomers to become active, aware and contributing members of their new society
