The IIC continues to be a major player in several collaborative organizing campaigns, including the Welcoming Massachusetts campaign. Modeled after similar campaigns in other states, Welcoming MA seeks to build support for immigrant rights by uniting a broad cross-section of society – community and faith-based organizations, government, labor groups, businesses and individual residents – to affirm that the state “welcomes and respects the dignity of all people” and to add a human rights dimension to the immigration debate. The campaign goal is to acquire 100,000 individual and 1,000 organizational signatures of support; IIC committed to independently collect 1,000. We proudly obtained the first 70 at our recent Taste of Ireland event.
